BOULDER, CO — While it's a no-brainer that people in their late teens and early 20s move to university towns each year to attend college, some spots are able to retain the newcomers with job opportunities, culture, lifestyle and other factors.

Analysts looked at 3 million rental applications in more than 40,000 communities across the U.S., and found that Boulder has the highest share of Gen Z renters in the country — 65 percent, the report shows.

Zoomers have even outpaced their predecessors in Boulder — only 22 percent of renters in the city are Millennials, according to the study. It may come as no surprise that Boulder's home and rental prices aren't affordable for the majority of Millennials, many of whom have children.
