Here are the top four stories today in Boulder:

  1. Fittingly, on the first day of Black History month, after 15 years in the making, professor and center director Reiland Rabaka saw his dream realized and the CU Boulder Center for African and African American Studies celebrated its grand opening. The center, also called "The Cause," is housed inside Macky Auditorium Concert Hall. The first of its kind on CU Boulder's campus, the center is also the first to serve students, staff and faculty inclusively at the same time. This center represents a very important milestone for the institution that will be treasured and revered for years to come. (Longmont Times-Call)
  2. Looking for something fun to do this Friday night? Why not head over to the Fiske Planetarium a 2414 Regent Drive, Boulder to be immersed in Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ Liquid Sky show? Tickets are $8-$12. For more information go to calendar.colorado.edu. (Boulder Daily Camera)
  3. Making a valuable difference in his community student-athlete and junior at Stargate Charter School, Reed Schoenfeld started Sneaks ‘n Cleats non-profit a year ago with a mission to ease the struggle families in need face to keep shoes on the feet of quick-growing children. On Wednesday, the youth empowerment organization "I Have A Dream" Foundation of Boulder County hosted Sneaks 'n Cleats first shoe giveaway during which several Boulder kids received new shoes. If you are in need of new shoes, Sneaks ‘n Cleats inventory can be seen on the nonprofit’s website. (Boulder Daily Camera)
  4. A man was found not breathing inside a tent in Boulder Wednesday after reportedly ingesting fentanyl. The man was rescued by Boulder Police officers who administered Narcan. According to CBS Denver, "the man was taken to the hospital where he continues to recover." Read more at CBS Denver (Patch)
