Church Helps Provide Body Armor For Boulder Sheriff's Deputies
The donation will help all sheriff's office first responders with rifle-rated armor and helmets.

BOULDER, CO -- Non-profit SHIELD616 will present Boulder County Sheriff's Department deputies with 53 body armor packages Thursday night at the local branch of the Calvary Bible Church, according to a press release from the sheriff's department. The church congregation raised $76,500 in donations, enough to fund 51 armor packages. Additional community donations were able to raise money for two more packages, bringing the total to 53.
This set of donations helps ensure that every first responder from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office has rifle rated body armor plates, a plate carrier vest, a trauma kit and a ballistic helmet. According to the sheriff's office, previous fundraising efforts from community organizations, churches and individual donors via SHIELD616 also contributed to that goal.
Each full armor package purchased through SHIELD616 costs $1,500, and the price is approximately $2,500 if the set is purchased retail.
