County Housing Comprehensive Plan: Make Your Voice Heard

An update to housing and economics portions of the comprehensive plan gives a rare chance to weigh in on the shape of our county's future.

BOULDER COUNTY, CO -- Local residents have several chances to speak out about the future of housing and economic growth in our community this month as Boulder County works to update the housing and economics portions of its Comprehensive Plan. County staff is exploring a range of hot topics including senior housing, accessory dwelling units, manufactured homes, residential energy efficiency, farm worker housing, preservation of housing stock, short term rentals, and the intersection between available housing, jobs, and transportation.

The research will include diving into best practices and examples from peer jurisdictions. The Housing element update is intended to align with goals outlined in the Regional Housing Plan, prepared by the Boulder County Regional Housing Partnership. The Economics element seeks to incorporate goals and policies on topics such as outdoor recreation, tourism, and sustaining economic viability for the county’s farmers and rural communities.

There will be three open houses where the public can offer input during November. The first will be in Boulder on November 13, the second in Nederland on November 27, and the final chance in Allenspark on November 29. Find full details on times and locations on the county website.
