CU Student Critically Injured In Gregory Canyon Fall
The 19-year-old suffered a head injury and remains in critical condition.

BOULDER, CO -- A University of Colorado student fell while scrambling on a rock formation near the Gregory Canyon amphitheater Monday afternoon, and remains in critical condition at Foothills Hospital. The 19-year-old man fell 60 feet while free climbing without a helmet or other safety gear and suffered multiple injuries, including a severe head injury, according to a press release from the Boulder County Sheriff's office.
One of the man's friends called 911 to report the accident at about 3:45 p.m. Monday. Personnel from the sheriff's office, AMR Ambulance, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, and the Boulder Fire Department all responded to the call. The man was located approximately 1/2 mile up the Gregory Canyon trail, and had to be evacuated with a technical rescue.

Unconscious and in critical condition, the man was transported by ambulance to Foothills Hospital in Boulder. At last report, he was alive and in surgery, according to the Boulder County Sheriff.
