Democrats Show Up Big For Early Voting–In Boulder And Statewide

Election Day isn't here yet, but Democrats are so far showing greater enthusiasm in early turnout than Republicans.

BOULDER, CO -- Final tallies wont be counted until next Tuesday night, but heading into the last weekend before this year's midterm elections, Colorado Democrats are showing early in far bigger numbers than Republicans when compared to 2014 statistics. At this point in 2014, Republicans had a lead of 94,829 ballots returned over Democrats. This year, that gap has narrowed to just a 919 vote lead as of Nov 1, according to data published by Magellan Strategies, LLC.

In Boulder, Republicans are actually lagging behind their returned ballot total at this point from 2014, 12,158 to 2014's 12,987. Democrats are out in force this time around with 39,380 ballots in compared to 29,094 in 2014. Voters who are unaffiliated or registered with another party have also increased their count with 24,173 ballots cast to 2014's 17,960.

75 percent of the ballots cast statewide so far this year have been by voters older than 45, and slightly more female than male voters have weighed in.
