DIA Delays, Cancels Hundreds Of Flights; Reduces Runways
The airport is using just two out of its six runways and has been placed on a ground delay program due to strong winds, FAA officials say.

DENVER, CO — Denver International Airport is reporting hundreds of delays and cancellations Wednesday as winds of up to 50 miles an hour grip the region.
According to flight-tracking website flightaware.com, DIA has seen a total of 409 delays and 120 cancellations as of 10:40 a.m.
DIA warned travelers in a tweet to check their flight status before traveling to the airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration has placed the airport on a ground delay program through 6 p.m., and the airport is currently using just two of its six runways, an airport official told 9News. The FAA also said that the average wait time for delayed arriving flights is two hours and nine minutes, while departing flights are seeing average delays of just 15 minutes, according to the Denver Post.
Getting to the airport might be just as difficult: the Regional Transportation District announced that A Line trains to the airport are running on a 30-minute frequency throughout Wednesday.
