First Recreational Cannabis Shop In Longmont Open For Buisness
Terrapin Care Station snagged one of four permits offered for recreational shops last summer.

LONGMONT, CO -- Longmont residents can now purchase recreational pot within city limits. Terrapin Care Station celebrated with a ribbon cutting Monday morning at its new 650 20th Ave location. Last July, council lifted the ban on recreational businesses within Longmont's municipal boundaries. Terrapin was one of four shops to snag a permit and is the first to open.

State representative Jonathan Singer was on hand to witness the opening, as were other local elected officials and community leaders. This is Terrapin's sixth shop in Colorado, and the company has committed to donate $20,000 to five different local non-profits: Centennial State Ballet, Homeless Outreach Providing Encouragement, Longmont Community Justice Partnership, Out Boulder County and The Reentry Initiative.
"The non-profits represent a range of causes that all see a nexus between cannabis legalization, whether it’s restorative justice, the arts, helping with homeless outreach, or advancing critical social issues such as LGBTQ rights," explained Terrapin officials in a press release.
