Boulder, Colo. (January 25, 2022) — A locally-owned moving franchise is helping fire victims to move boxes of donated belongings and furniture into their new homes, starting with a family moving from Louisville, Colo., to Boulder this week, free of charge.

Owner of College H.U.N.K.S. Hauling Junk & Moving® Denver North, Brad Ragusa, said, “We saw it as a chance to do something for people in need. I’m from Southwest Louisiana, where my hometown of Lake Charles was hit with two massive hurricanes, a freeze, and a biblical flood in the last two years—so I could empathize. Those communities in Louisville and Superior are suffering.”

The Farrelly-Beck family, from Louisville, Colo., lost their rental home and everything they owned in the Marshall Fire, apart from a few personal belongings. The Farrelly-Becks had been clients of College H.U.N.K.S. Hauling Junk & Moving® in early November. Since the fires, they have been staying with friends in Boulder. Their free move on Thursday was a relocation to a new rental home in Boulder.

"During our November move, we had used two different moving companies to assist us. College H.U.N.K.S. was far and above the best due to their professionalism and can-do attitude. So, when it came time to relocate due to the fires, I immediately thought to call them for help," said Laura Farrelly.

Farrelly added, "We fully expected to pay for our post-fire move. When College H.U.N.K.S. graciously offered to complete the move for free, I was moved to tears. We are so grateful for their generosity. It is acts of kindness like this that are helping our two daughters to cope with the losses from the fire."

In the Marshall Fire, as of Jan. 19, it was reported that 1,084 homes were destroyed and 149 homes damaged, with seven commercial buildings destroyed and another 30 damaged.

Ragusa took over the Denver North franchise Dec. 1. He is teaming up with the South Denver franchisee's Crystal and Mathew Brazzle to provide two more donation moves for families in need that were affected directly by the Marshall Fire.

"We know it's going to be tough for a while…my heart goes out to everyone,” Ragusa said.

The company says H.U.N.K.S. is an acronym standing for "Honest. Uniformed. Nice. Knowledgeable. Service." The company is licensed and insured and strives to ensure your next junk job or moving job is "Stress Free.”
