Inmate Flees From Boulder County Jail On Bicycle: Sheriff

The man was part of a supervised work crew.

BOULDER, CO -- An inmate was quickly recaptured after fleeing from the Boulder County Jail on a bicycle today, Jan. 15, according to a report from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office. The man, identified as Rohit Raje, 25, fled while taking out the trash as a part of a supervised work crew at 3:20 p.m.

Deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Boulder Police Department conducted a search for the inmate and quickly located him in the 5600 block of Arapahoe Avenue. He was taken back into custody by 3:37 p.m.

Raje was serving a sentence at the jail on charges of felony stalking, misdemeanor trespass, and misdemeanor violation of a restraining order. His anticipated release date from the original charges had been Jan. 29.

As a result of his escape, Raje has been arrested on additional charges, including escape, obstruction, trespass, and reckless endangerment.
