Jared Polis Offers President Trump A Geography Lesson

After tweeted criticism of gubernatorial candidate Polis, Coloradans wonder about the president's motives–and grasp of western boundaries.

BOULDER, CO -- After President Trump tweeted an endorsement of Republican gubernatorial candidate Walker Stapleton that claimed his Democratic challenger Jared Polis "is weak on crime and weak on borders," some Coloradans took it upon themselves to point out exactly where the borders of their state lie.

"When @realDonaldTrump stated that Jared Polis is 'weak on borders,' did he mean Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, or Arizona?" wrote the Polis campaign Twitter account in response to the criticism, offering a map of the region as its source.

"The Wyoming border is notoriously pourous," noted Tim Miller, a Republican media consultant and Trump critic, before pointing out that there are more effective criticisms to leverage against Polis.

Election watchers observed that the timing of the president's endorsement of Stapleton was notable given the fact that the most recently released polls in Colorado's governor race showed Polis with at least a 5 point lead over Stapleton.
