Man Assaults Rescuers On Flagstaff: Police

His friends had contacted emergency services due to his strange behavior.

BOULDER, CO -- A man assaulted his rescuers on Flagstaff Mountain Road just before midnight on Friday, Oct. 26, according to a press release from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office. The 18-year-old's friends called 911 when he fell and struck his head after smoking marijuana and then continued to act strangely, attempting to run off into the woods.

AMR Paramedics and the Boulder Fire Department were the first to arrive on the scene. When they attempted to treat the man he struck a paramedic in the face, breaking his glasses and leaving a mark.

The paramedics and firefighters were able to wrestle the man to the ground and restrain him, but he continued to struggle and so emergency personnel administered a sedative to calm him down. Deputies from the sheriff's office and Boulder Police Department officers arrived shortly thereafter.
