Mud Closes Trailheads Across The County

Check this list before you head out to enjoy the sunshine.

BOULDER, CO – The sun is out and temperatures are expected to hit near 60 Wednesday afternoon, and that means that last weekend's snow is about to turn a long list of county trails into mud pits.

Boulder County Open Space has released a list of trails and trailheads that are currently closed to visitors to protect paths and vegetation from damage.

The current list of closures is extensive:

Marshall Mesa and Greenbelt Plateau area trails:

  • Marshall Valley
  • Coal Seam
  • Marshall Mesa
  • Community Ditch (east of Hwy 93)
  • Cowdrey Draw
  • Greenbelt Plateau
  • High Plains

Flatirons Vista, Doudy, and Springbrook area trails:

  • Flatirons Vista North
  • Flatirons Vista South
  • Community Ditch (west of Hwy 93)
  • Prairie Vista
  • Doudy Draw
  • Springbrook Loop North and South
  • Goshawk Ridge
  • Fowler

In the Boulder Valley Ranch Area:

  • Left Hand Trail from BVR to Neva Rd

Along with the trail closures, trailheads and access points in those areas will also be closed including:

  • Marshall Mesa Trailhead
  • Greenbelt Plateau Trailhead
  • Flatirons Vista Trailhead

Doudy Draw Trailhead will remain open for vehicle parking for visitors wishing to access the South Mesa Trailhead, but trails leading immediately out of the Doudy Draw Trailhead will be closed.

Open Space employees monitor trails daily, and will lift the closures as soon as they dry out.
