New Recycling Center Opens In Lyons
Regional library to be built on former recycling center site.

LYONS, CO - From dawn to dusk every day, Lyons residents can now drop off their cardboard and single-stream recyclables at the town's new recycling center, open this week. Located at 198 2nd Avenue, the facility is fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act regulations, features improved lighting, and has no entrance fee. Demolition of the old center is set to begin in October, according to a press release from Boulder County.
Last year, Lyons' old recycling center site was selected to be transformed into a new regional library, forcing the town and Boulder County to identify a new location. It wasn't all bad–the previous site lacked fencing, which contributed to illegal dumping of small electronics, office furniture, and other items not accepted at that location. Officials hope that better security and limited hours at the new facility will help reduce such problems.
The new recycling center will be co-managed by the Town of Lyons and the Boulder County Resource Conservation Division.
