Niwot Building Moratorium: Public Meetings Scheduled
Public comment options available during the temporary building ban while county staff reviews Niwot Rural Community District Regulations.

BOULDER, CO -- The public will have two chances to comment on September's temporary moratorium on proposed development in Niwot, announced Boulder County officials this week. The first comes Wednesday during a community meeting at Left Hand Grange. County staff will provide an overview of the moratorium and answer questions. The primary focus of the meeting is to gather community feedback prior to revisions to the land use regulations for the Niwot Rural Community District, according to a press release from Boulder County.
The six-month moratorium on processing development applications in the area, which includes property along 2nd Avenue from west of the railroad to Niwot Rd., was enacted by the Board of County Commissioners on Sept. 20. The commissioners' decision gave staff time to review and update the Niwot Rural Community District Regulations before agreeing to any more development projects.

According to a statement from the county, land use staff has already begun to analyze how existing regulations are protecting public health, safety, and welfare, and if they are appropriately balancing development and growth with the needs of the Niwot community.
The second chance for residents to voice their opinions will be at a Board of County Commissioners Public Hearing on Oct. 30 at the Boulder County Courthouse. Residents can also submit opinions through on the project webpage here.
