LONGMONT, CO -- One person and a cat died in a Longmont trailer fire Friday morning. According to a public report from the Longmont Fire Department, just before 9 a.m. Friday Nov. 9 Longmont Fire and Police personnel responded to reports of a structure on fire with a person possibly inside at 729 17th Ave.

Upon arrival, crews found a mobile home on fire and heavy smoke. One crew pulled a hose line to the front door while another attempted to enter the home and search for any victims. Both crews were initially pushed out of the home by high heat. Officers were able to enter the home from the opposite entrance and found one person in a hallway, who was removed and treated with life-saving procedures immediately.

The victim was taken to Longmont United Hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The fire was brought under control in less than 20 minutes.
