Shot By Neighbor, Buffs Football Alum Anthony Cunningham Dies
Cunningham was shot Sunday, died Monday, in what sheriff's deputies deemed a "neighbor dispute."

BOULDER, CO -- Anthony Cunningham, former University of Colorado-Boulder football player and current Hinkley High School Assistant Principal, died Monday as a result of gunshot wounds, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department. Marcus Johnson, 31, was being held on charges of attempted murder in the case, according to a tweet from the sheriff's department, but those charges were amended to first degree murder after Cunningham, 46, died at Parker Adventist Hospital on Monday.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office responded to a call Sunday afternoon about a shooting near Eaglecrest High and Thunder Ridge Middle School. The sheriff's office told the Denver Post that Johnson, who lived across the street from Cunningham, claimed that his neighbor had attacked him earlier in the day, and that the two met near Eaglecrest High to settle the dispute.
Cunningham played wide receiver and defensive back at CU from 1992 to 1995. He was a member of four Buffs bowl teams and recorded 21 career receptions for 239 yards during his three years as a receiver. In 1996, he was a sixth-round draft pick for the NFL's Seattle Seahawks.
