Sleigh Rides, Jugglers, And A Gelt Drop In Longmont This Weekend

What is a gelt drop? Hint: It involves firefighters and chocolate candy.

LONGMONT, CO -- Whatever holiday you celebrate, Village at the Peaks Mall in Longmont will have everything you need to get into the spirit this weekend. The first three weekends in December, the mall hosts Jingle Bell Fridays, where visitors can enjoy free horse-drawn carriage rides, cocoa with elves, and holiday carolers. The events run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. each Friday night, and include balloons and face painting.

This Sunday, Dec. 9, Village at the Peaks also invites the community to come celebrate the last night of Hanukkah in style. There will be a gelt drop, where participants try to catch or collect chocolate coins dropped by firefighters from 75 feet in the air, lattkes, donuts, and hot beverages. Sam Malcolm will be on hand to present a one-of-a-kind comedy show, complete with juggling and fire.

All events take place at 1250 S. Hover St., in the Village lawn and stage area. Visit the Village at the Peaks website for full details.
