2 Denver Men Accused Of Selling Illegal Machine Guns To Feds

DENVER, CO – Two Denver men were indicted by a federal grand jury last week for allegedly selling illegal weapons, including machine guns and silencers, to undercover agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

Jose Eduardo Trujillo and Andres Jaquin “Buddha” Luna III, allegedly sold unregistered firearms to agents in July, August, and October of this year, an arrest affidavit said.

The investigation began in November of 2017, when a confidential informant met up with Luna at Dandy Dan’s Club 214 S. Federal Blvd., in Denver, an arrest affidavit said. Luna, an alleged Sureño 13 gang member, said he had recently been released from prison and now worked in a Lakewood barber shop. Luna offered to sell cocaine to the informant.

Over six months, the informant developed a relationship with Luna, who then offered to sell two weapons in July, 2018, the affidavit said. With the offer of drugs and weapons for sale, undercover agents met up with Luna and Trujillo at Artwork Auto, 844 E. 78th Ave. in Denver, and purchased several AR-15 style firearms referred to as "ghost guns" with no serial numbers, and silencers. In August and October, undercover agents made two other firearms purchases of guns, silencers and "lightning links"– metal auto-connectors that convert a semi-automatic weapon into an automatic weapon. Luna also offered to sell undercover agents methamphetamine.

Trujillo and Luna were arrested in November, the USAO's office said. On Dec. 4, 2018, the grand jury indictment charged the defendants with possession of unregistered firearms and possession of machine guns. Luna was also charged with distribution of methamphetamine, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm.
