Critical Fire Weather: Winds Could Reach Up To 50 MPH In Eastern CO

Most eastern Colorado counties face dangerous fire conditions, the National Weather Service said in an alert.

DENVER, CO — Another red flag warning has been issued for most eastern Colorado counties, including those in Denver's metro area and Boulder County, the National Weather Service said in an alert.

The warning, which means that critical fire weather conditions are predicted, will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Humidity could reach as low as 8 percent, and winds are expected to gust between 25 and 35 mph, but could gust up to 50 mph, weather officials said.

"Any fire that starts will have the potential to spread rapidly," the weather alert reads.

"Avoid burning or any outdoor activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire."
