Here are the top stories today in Denver:
- Players and fans are mourning the death of the former Broncos star wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, 33. Police said they found Thomas in a shower at his home. His cousin said she believes he died from a seizure. "We are devastated and completely heartbroken," the Broncos said in a statement. "Demaryius' humility, warmth, kindness and infectious smile will always be remembered by those who knew him and loved him." (CBS Denver)
- Mayor Michael Hancock vetoed Friday the flavored tobacco ban, which was approved by City Council Monday in an 8-3 vote. In a letter to the council, Hancock said he believes the ban should be more targeted. (Denver Patch)
- Denver International Airport officials are set to ask for more than $1 billion in funding and an additional four years to the Great Hall Project contract, CBS reports. Airport officials said the improvements are necessary as the airport recovers from the pandemic. Under the new proposal, the project would be completed in 2028. (CBS Denver)
- After 232 days of no measurable snow, Denver finally got 0.3 inches on Friday, weather officials confirmed. Our city's previous latest first snow on record was in 1934. (9News)
