Guns, Ammo Found In Denver Hotel Room Days Before All-Star Game
Police told ABC they feared a "Las Vegas-style shooting" was planned after the weapons were found on the eighth floor of the Maven Hotel.

DENVER — Police officers originally feared a "Las Vegas-style shooting" ahead of the 2021 Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Denver this week may have been in the works, sources told ABC after about 1,000 rounds of ammunition, several long guns and body armor were found inside a room at the Maven Hotel, just blocks from Coors Field, Friday night.
More than a dozen weapons, including 16 long guns, were removed from a room on the eighth floor of the hotel on Wazee Street Friday night after police responded to a tip from one of the hotel's housekeepers, ABC reported. More than 1,000 rounds of ammunition and body armor were also taken from the room, which has a balcony overlooking downtown Denver, according to the report.
Four people were arrested.

Terrorism is not suspected, however. The FBI's Denver office issued a statement on Twitter Sunday morning.
"We have no reason to believe this incident was connected to terrorism or a threat directed at the All-Star Game," the FBI wrote. "We are not aware of any threat to the All-Star Game events, venues, players, or the community at this time."

An ABC News reporter later tweeted that a high-ranking law enforcement officials have since said the arrests were part of a "drugs for guns" deal, and was not a mass shooting in the works. The initial concern, Carol McKinley tweeted, was due to the hotel's proximity to the Colorado Rockies' home stadium.
The Maven Hotel gun discovery came as festivities were beginning for the MLB All-Star Game, which is scheduled for Tuesday at Coors Field. The MLB Draft will be held in Denver beginning Sunday night, with a celebrity game and Home Run Derby among the other events also planned ahead of Tuesday's Midsummer Classic.
