Here are the top stories today in Denver:

  1. A health care strike was averted Saturday in Colorado and other states as Kaiser Permanente workers protest understaffing and wage cuts for new employees. The Alliance of Health Care Unions and Kaiser Permanente jointly announced the agreement, staving off a potentially crippling strike. (Denver Patch)
  2. A public library in Denver, at Santa Fe Drive and West 7th Avenue, has been renamed to honor Native American community leader John "Thunderbird Man" Emhoolah. The Kiowa and Arapaho Indian served in the Korean War and improved education for our state's indigenous communities. (9News.com KUSA)
  3. Trader Joe's stores recalled a chicken patty product after pieces of bone were discovered in the food, the Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service announced. The recall affected Trader Joe's in Colorado and across the nation. (Patch)
  4. The Salvation Army is now accepting meals and gifts for Christmas assistance. The organization aims to collect food, funds and toys to help hundreds of families. (FOX 31 Denver)
