Part Of Colorado Blvd Will Close For Construction This Weekend

A stretch of Colorado Boulevard Southbound will close from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for construction of a new water management system.

DENVER, CO — The southbound lanes of Colorado Boulevard from Montview Boulevard to E 16th Avenue will be completely closed from Friday at 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. Monday for scheduled construction.

The northbound lane closest to the southbound lanes will be closed for safety as well, the Denver Police Department said.

Message boards are placed along the corridor to encourage travelers to take alternate routes, police said.

The Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is building "a bigger and better stormwater management system" to more effectively carry and convey stormwater that flows through the area during big storms, police said.

Construction of the stormwater management system will require closures again for the night of Friday, Oct. 8 through the morning of Monday, Oct. 11.
