Past large apartment fires in the Denver area remain unsolved years later (9news.com) — Investigators are still working to determine what sparked last week’s massive fire at an apartment building under construction on Leetsdale in Denver, a case so complex the ATF’s National Response Team has been called in. Officials say large construction-site fires often leave little evidence, noting several major Denver and Aurora apartment blazes in recent years remain unsolved despite extensive forensic work.
   

4. 'We're exploring new territory': Denver leaders look to prohibit law enforcement from wearing facial coverings (denver7.com) — Denver City Council members Flor Alvidrez and Shontel Lewis are drafting a proposal to restrict law enforcement from wearing facial coverings while detaining or arresting people in Denver, arguing it harms public trust and identification. They’ll introduce the idea to the city’s Budget & Policy Committee on Monday, while critics question whether Denver can regulate federal agents’ conduct.
   

5. Hundreds protesting Renee Good killing close Denver streets (denvergazette.com) — Downtown Denver streets around 16th Street and Union Station were briefly shut down Friday night as hundreds marched in freezing temperatures to protest the fatal ICE shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis. Demonstrators gathered at the state Capitol, blocked traffic, and circled back after speeches, voicing anger over federal immigration enforcement and calling for broader community action.
