Mission Ballroom plaza about to get Denver's first alcohol license for common consumption (denvergazette.com) — Denver City Council has approved the city’s first common consumption alcohol license for the outdoor plaza by Mission Ballroom in RiNo, creating the North Wynkoop Entertainment District. Once the mayor signs, visitors will be able to carry branded drinks between participating businesses in the designated courtyard, potentially as soon as this weekend and in time for National Western Stock Show crowds.

2. Denver police, FBI ask public to help identify bank robbery suspect (cbsnews.com) — Denver police and the FBI are asking residents to help identify a man suspected of robbing a U.S. Bank on Colorado Boulevard Monday morning. Investigators released a security photo and detailed description of his clothing and appearance, and anyone with information is urged to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers by phone or through their website.

Kaiser Permanente says Denver Public Schools will switch to different health care provider (cbsnews.com) — Denver Public Schools plans to drop Kaiser Permanente, forcing more than 5,000 Denver educators and staff to find new doctors as soon as July. DPS says Kaiser’s bid was too costly, while Kaiser disputes the district’s numbers, and union leaders are demanding full cost data before a February deadline.

Serbian Orthodox community in Denver gathers to celebrate Christmas Eve traditions (kdvr.com) — Serbian Orthodox families from across the Denver metro area packed St. John the Baptist Church in Lakewood to celebrate Christmas Eve on Jan. 6. Worshippers marked the Julian-calendar holiday with prayer, song, and traditions that help Denver’s Serbian community stay closely connected to faith, family, and heritage far from their homeland.
