Red Flag Warning Issued For Metro Denver, Boulder

DENVER, CO — The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for Denver's metro area and Boulder.

A red flag warning is issued when there are critical fire weather conditions.

The warning will be in effect from noon until 7 p.m. Monday for most eastern Colorado counties:

A fire weather watch will also be in effect for the Denver area between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., the National Weather Service said.

Humidity could reach as low as 11 percent, and winds are expected to gust between 10 and 20 mph, but could gust up to 35 mph, weather officials said.

"Any fire that develops will have the potential to spread rapidly," the weather alert reads.

"Avoid burning or any outdoor activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire."
