TSA Agent Arrested At DIA For Child Sex Charges: DA

DENVER, CO — A TSA Agent is being held in the Denver County jail facing 12 counts of child sexual assault of three girls.

Matthew Paul Barnett, 33, worked as an agent with the Transportation Security Administration at DIA. He was arrested by Thornton police at Denver International Airport on Friday.

A statement from the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office said Barnett is being investigated for three counts of sexual assault on a child, three counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, two counts of sexual assault on a child as a pattern of abuse, and four counts of committing an aggravated sex offense.

Barnett was listed Friday as a jail inmate in the Denver inmate roster as having been arrested on a "fugitive of justice" warrant.

He will appear next week in Adams County Court, the DA's office said.

The release did not say where the crimes took place or what relationship Barnett had to the victims, if any.
