It’s almost that time of year when we’re itching to close our books and forget about assignments for a week. Spring break is on the horizon and so are the possibilities for a fun time. Below are a few ideas to kickstart a well-deserved break.

Welcome spring with CU Denver’s annual community workout. Enjoy a 25-minute full-body strength and conditioning workout followed by a 15-minute yoga flow to cool down. All fitness levels are welcome. A donation to the CU Denver Food Pantry is suggested.

When: Wednesday, March 16, 2022, 12 – 12: 45 p.m. 

Where: Salazar Student Wellness Center, Gym Court 3

John R. Henderson (1921-2018) initiated the integration of Black designers into Colorado’s architectural profession. This exhibition showcases the trajectory of Henderson’s life and work, from drafting assignments to the residential and commercial projects he designed independently in Denver and beyond.

When: February and March

Where: CU Denver Building, 2nd Floor

Ride into spring with a movie-like experience! Learn what it’s like to ride behind a sled pulled by trained mushing dogs through a beautiful national park. Step out of your comfort zone, meet the dogs, and learn about the sport, all while exploring Colorado’s snow-covered mountains. No experience required.

When: Two sessions available. March 24 and 25, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.  

Where: First, register online. All participants must attend a mandatory pre-trip meeting where important trip details will be discussed.

Dairy Block and American Field have partnered to host a series of outdoor markets for 2022. Enjoy live music, food, and drink specials. Free and open to all.

When: Saturday, March 19, and Sunday, March 20, 12 – 6 p.m.

Where: Dairy Block, 1800 Wazee St. 

Debuting at the Denver Pavilions in downtown Denver, Earth Illuminated is a family-friendly attraction that is divided into a series of colorfully themed sets. You will be taken on a 13,000-square-foot ethereal journey. Admire our planet’s beauty throughout a series of interactive environments with countless Instagram-perfect opportunities. Tickets start at $18.

When: Every day, 12 – 6:30 p.m.

Where: Denver Pavilions 500 16th Street Mall, Suite 280

The series of craft workshops, Laugh Your Craft Off, is back to kickstart spring break! Artists and crafters have collaborated with comedians to bring entertainment to a whole new level. This edition of LYCO is called Sweet Dreams. Embrace your dreams with sewing skills, crystals, and intentions. Tickets start at $20. 

When: March 23, 2022, doors open at 5 p.m. 

Where: Museum of Contemporary Art, 1485 Delgany St.
