LAKEWOOD, CO — A new taproom is set to open its doors in Lakewood Friday in a 3,200-square-foot space next to Tom's Brew Shop.

Owners Thomas and Eileen Schurmann are opening 6 and 40 Brewery at 883 Parfet Street, Unit J. The couple said their new business will "celebrate vintage cars, craft beer and local community."

“We are humbled by the community support we’ve received at the Brew Shop over the past 10 years,” Thomas Schurmann said.

“There is a spirit in the craft beer industry unlike any I’ve experienced. Every day we help hobbyists and commercial brewers alike fine-tune their recipes. Opening a small brewery next door further showcases our talented team, including brewers José Quiñones and Josh Pierce, while giving something back to the Lakewood area.”

The new brewery, which features 20 handcrafted beers and seltzers on tap, aims to attract home brewers, craft beer enthusiasts and car lovers — the business has been designed to showcase automobiles in a retro mechanics' garage environment that resembles a "mini museum."

6 and 40 Brewery will celebrate its grand opening from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.

Christa Hook, the taproom's manager, said her team is excited to showcase their first 10 housemade beers and seltzers on tap.

“We’ve partnered with local favorite, Munkh’s Mongolian, for a delicious menu served in a comfortable, socially-distanced environment," Hook said.

"Just as exciting as the beer selection is the ability to stroll through the Brew Shop and understand the mechanics of how it’s made. We can’t wait to share a pint and a story with the local craft community!”

After its grand opening, 6 and 40 Brewery will be open from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
