Adult Student With Gun Arrested On Lakewood School Grounds
McLain Community High School was locked down and Rudy Jesse Romero, age 25, was arrested after he allegedly brought a gun to school.

LAKEWOOD, CO – Lakewood police on Tuesday arrested a 25-year-old adult student who allegedly brought a gun to an alternative high school.
Rudy Jesse Romero faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds after allegedly being found with a handgun at McLain Community High School, 13600 W. 2nd Pl. in Lakewood, police said in a press release.
Around 10 a.m., police were called to McClain after a student reported that he observed another student with a gun and alerted school staff. The school was put on lockdown and Romero was arrested and a handgun recovered, police said.

Romero is both a student at the school and an employee in the school district, police said. Police said Romero made no threats to anyone in the school, and no injuries were reported. The school lockdown was lifted at 11 a.m.
"We’re very thankful for the alertness displayed by the reporting student and the staff and security at McLain," the police department said in a statement. "We want to remind students and parents that they should always report any potential safety concerns to the school, law enforcement, or through Safe2Tell no matter how insignificant they believe it might be."
