Planning Commission – Ward 4There is one opening for a Ward 4 resident for a four-year term starting April 1. The commission conducts public hearings on rezoning and subdivision applications, approves certain special use permits and reviews site plans. Additionally, members serve on the Board of Adjustment. The commission meets at 7 p.m. the first and third Wednesdays of each month for regular meetings and at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month for study session meetings.

Lakewood Advisory CommissionThere are several openings for unexpired terms on the Lakewood Advisory Commission. Members research specific issues or topics of interest to Lakewood residents and make recommendations for potential action to City Council. Members should plan to attend a minimum of two meetings a month, one for a full commission meeting and one for a committee meeting. Applicants must attend (virtually or by watching previously recorded meetings) both a full commission and an individual committee meeting before applying.
Historic Preservation CommissionThere is one opening for a four-year term starting April 1. Applicants must demonstrate a competency in historic preservation by having a background in architecture, history, urban planning, building trades, real estate or related fields. The commission conducts public hearings on applications for landmark designation, reviews alteration certificates and applications for relocating historically designated structures and makes recommendations to City Council. The commission must meet four times a year.
Board of AppealsThere are two openings for three-year terms starting April 1. This board is a quasi-judicial body that decides appeals from any order, requirement or decision made by the codes administrator. Members must be qualified by experience and training to decide matters related to building construction. Meetings occurs as needed but typically are four or five times a year.
