LAKEWOOD, CO – A Jefferson County inmate was taken into custody Thursday after she escaped Wednesday morning from a JeffCo prisoner transportation van, the JeffCo Sheriff's Office said.
Leigha Bowie, 33, was back on the JeffCo Sheriff's online inmate roster Thursday. Spokeswoman Jennifer Fulton confirmed that Bowie had been taken into custody.
Bowie was accidentally dropped off at the wrong location. She was among a group of female inmates being driven in a JeffCo prison van to Denver. Due to a mixup, Bowie was accidentally released at a female work facility in Lakewood around 7:40 a.m., Wednesday the sheriff's office said. She fled the facility.

Bowie was originally booked into the Jefferson County jail on Oct. 22 on charges of assault, criminal trespass, menacing, theft and a failure-to-appear warrant, court records say.
She was then released on those charges, but is now charged with several driving offenses, as well as escape. She's being held on $5,000 bond.
