Lakewood Student Honored for Inspiring Leadership and Community Impact
Thinh Tran earned the Mayor's Inspiration Award for his leadership in expanding Alameda International's tennis program & promoting inclusion
Lakewood honored several outstanding individuals with the 2024 Mayor’s Inspiration Award, recognizing those who make a meaningful difference through community engagement, inclusiveness, and innovation. Among the honorees was Thinh Tran, a student at Alameda International High School, whose quiet leadership has left a lasting impact on his school.
Thinh played a key role in revitalizing lesser-known student activities—most notably the tennis program. Thanks to his efforts, the team grew from just two to 13 players, drawing in a diverse group of students who found both athletic success and a deeper sense of belonging. School staff credit Thinh’s everyday actions and inclusive spirit for creating a more connected and motivated school environment.
From leading by example to building bridges among peers, Thinh exemplifies the values behind the Mayor’s Inspiration Award—and Lakewood is proud to celebrate his contribution.
