Man Held On $50K Bond For Ramming State Trooper Car

Jeff Huntley was tasered and arrested after allegedly ramming his pickup into a state trooper's patrol car and confronting the officer.

GOLDEN, CO – A man is being held in Jefferson County Jail on $50,000 bond after allegedly ramming a Colorado State Patrol vehicle Saturday night.

Jeffrey W. Huntley, 52, allegedly rammed his damaged pickup truck into a state patrol vehicle on a crowded highway, then allegedly got out of his truck and threatened the trooper "in an aggressive manner," a statement from the Lakewood police said. The trooper deployed a taser on Huntley and arrested him. The trooper and Huntley were both taken to a local hospital for evaluation and released, police said.

Huntley appeared in court Sunday and was assigned bond, facing multiple charges of assault and reckless driving.

Witnesses said Huntley was driving a pickup truck on West 6th Avenue around 5:30 p.m., when he struck the guard rail under an overpass. A witness flagged down the Colorado State Trooper patrol car and told the trooper about the accident.

According to police, the trooper activated his over-head emergency lights and backed up down the right shoulder towards the pick-up. That's when Huntley allegedly rammed the trooper car.
