Neighborhood Parks To Get 2019 Facelifts In Lakewood

Pickle ball courts, a school community garden, landscaping and amenities at Gray path among projects approved by city council.

LAKEWOOD, CO – Six park and landscaping projects were recommended to fund for 2019 with money from the city's Neighborhood Participation Program. The program allocates $160,000 per year for park and landscape improvements based on recommendations from local neighborhood groups.

At the Feb. 11 city council meeting, the council voted to approve six projects for the 2019 season.

Pickle ball courts at Lakewood Estates Park$ 5,000
New playground at Addenbrooke Park$ 60,000
A new community garden at Slater Elementary$ 25,000
Landscape improvements at southwest corner of W. Colfax & Wadsworth intersection (Lakewood W. Colfax BID to contribute funding and maintenance resources)$55,000
Landscape improvements to McNabb Park$ 8,000
Neighborhood kiosk, trash can, doggie-doo dispenser at 10th & Gray path$ 7,000

A total of 17 projects, totaling more than $600,000 were submitted. The city staff also gave a presentation about the projects from 2018 that have been completed.
