'Pom Pom Bandit' Nabbed After 4 JeffCo Bank Robberies, Police Say

LAKEWOOD, CO – The fourth JeffCo bank robbery in a month was the tipping point for the man police and the FBI dubbed the "Pom Pom Bandit" for his winter beanies.

With three bank robberies allegedly under his belt, on Wednesday Feb. 27 around 12:45 p.m., the Pom Pom bandit struck again–this time at Lakewood's FirstBank, located at 264 Union Blvd. Agents from Lakewood and the FBI's Mountain Safe Streets Task Force nabbed 36-year-old Brandon Wayne York nearby.

A man identified as an accomplice, 53-year-old Richard David Perdue, was also arrested on Wednesday, Lakewood police said in a statement.

Last week, police released a video of the bandit, now identified as York, on Feb. 22 around noon, as he approached the teller at FirstBank at 550 S. Wadsworth Blvd. Police said, as with all of his bank robberies, he handed the teller a note demanding money, then fled with cash.

Police believe York was involved in two other incidents:

- Feb. 15, 2019, at 4:20 p.m., Chase Bank located at 8155 Sheridan Blvd., Arvada, CO
- Feb. 19, 2019, at 3:30 p.m., First Bank located at 3500 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO

Both York and Purdue are being held at the Jefferson County Jail facing charges of bank robbery, Lakewood police said.
