Here are the top stories in Lakewood today:

  1. Due to the recent severe weather, flights arriving and departing from Denver International Airport continue to experience delays and cancellations. As flooding becomes a possibility, flights are expected to continue to be changed. Travelers are advised to check with their airlines for changes. Visit 9 News to find out more.
  2. The team tasked with issuing tickets to unhoused people in the area has yet to fine any people. Tim Marquez, a member of the team, said that tickets aren’t the best way to help these people and eliminate the issue of homelessness. Instead, he said, that the “biggest tool that we use is how we talk to people and our voice in how we help deescalate a situation.” Learn more at 9 News.
  3. Starting this Sunday, ¡Viva! Streets will be offering free programming to foot traffic in downtown Denver. About 3.5 miles of Welton Street and Broadway will be closed to cars from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Read more at The Denver Post.
  4. Wednesday night a shooting in Southeast Denver injured five people. The incident is currently being investigated and no arrests have been made. Of the five injured, one is in critical condition. Learn more at 9.
