  1. In recent months, Denver has seen many homeless encampment sweeps, which poses "a huge civil liberties issue," as said by attorney Andrew McNulty. Denver's "urban camping ban" has allowed police to ticket homeless people for merely existing for the past decade, although only 50 arrests have occurred since the camping ban bill was passed. Nonetheless, the inconsistency of the sweeps thus far in 2023 poses a huge and unfair stress to the homeless population. (Denverite)
  2. As Denver moves towards the run-off election, Mike Johnston pulls ahead of Kelly Brough in the polls. Johnston has notable more support from men over 50 and those who rent, while Brough has received the majority of support from Republican voters. (Colorado Politics)
  3. A proposed bill, nicknamed "Jinx's Law" after the K-9 that was killed while working last year, is heading towards the House. The bill would escalate the penalties for hurting a K-9, as well as ensure they receive immediate care that is paid for by the state. (FOX 31 Denver)
  4. Advance Auto Parts and the Denver Police Department are partnering to provide 200 people with steering wheel locks. The collaboration is hoping to reduce car theft. (9 News)
