  1. An unprecedented study on Denver's unhoused population surveyed about 1,000 currently homeless people in the city. Some of the resulting statistics include: 81%-88% of the surveyed population can only afford rent under $1,000 a month, 53% said lack of funds was a barrier to housing, 31.8% have a felony record and 24% desire legal or mental health help while searching for housing. (Denver 7)
  2. At least three Starbucks locations in Colorado, including one in Denver, participated in the nation-wide strike yesterday. The union, Starbucks Workers United, formed originally with hopes of better schedules and pay, among other demands. Since then, the union claims unfair labor policies have been implemented to stop organizing. One hundred stores participated across the county. (Colorado Public Radio)
  3. Lakewood's Change Inc. Counseling center is offering a unique type of therapy called EMDR, standing for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Change Inc. is focused on offering compassionate care for all patients, and EMDR therapy is a step towards that goal. (Digital Journal)
  4. A 17-year-old student at East High School in Denver has been accused of shooting two staff members of the school. Both wounded administrators are currently being treated for life-threatening injuries by Denver Health. East High School will be closed for the remainder of the week. (9 News)
