Upcoming Bike Race To Close Lakewood Streets
Aug. 18 Velo/Colorado Classic will disrupt traffic twice during the day.

From The Velo/Colorado Classic: The Velo/Colorado Classic professional bicycling race will impact streets and traffic as it passes through Lakewood on Saturday, Aug. 18.

- At about 1 p.m., the riders will return to Lakewood, coming eastbound on West Alameda Avenue at C-470, coming from over the Dakota Hogback. The race will travel east on Alameda, turn left at the intersection with West Jewell/Bear Creek Boulevard until Alameda reaches South Beech Street in the Green Mountain neighborhood across Alameda from Green Mountain High School. Riders will quickly turn on South Alkire Street and continue on it until it curves and becomes West Cedar Drive. When Cedar intersects with Union Boulevard, the race will turn north on Union, crossing West Sixth Avenue and continuing on Union/Simms until West 32nd Avenue, where racers will head east.
- Road closures in Lakewood from Alameda at C-470 to the Denver line on West 32nd Avenue are expected to last about 1.5 hours.
- One hour closure for Alameda at C-470 to West Sixth Avenue
- Twenty minute closure from West Sixth Avenue to West 32nd Avenue
- Twenty minute closure on West 32nd Avenue to Wadsworth Boulevard.
- Thirty minutes from Wadsworth to Sheridan on West 32nd Avenue.
