  1. A winter weather advisory went into effect last night as snow hit southern and eastern parts of Denver. Lakewood was predicted to get "3-6 inches of fluffy snow," according to Ashton Altieri of CBS Colorado. Going into this morning and the rest of the day, use caution while driving and give yourself extra time to account for potentially slow traffic. (CBS Colorado)
  2. The Colorado Municipal League found in a survey that inflation is the top concern for local governments. Last year housing was a top concern and inflation ranked at eighth, making this a significant jump for the issue. (Summit Daily)
  3. The first Black woman to own a cannabis dispensary, Wanda James, and her family business in Denver have made history. James said her motivation for the business and the other political actions she has taken (including being on the board for University of Colorado Boulder) is the time her brother spent in jail for just four ounces of marijuana. "To find out that somebody not only went to prison for four ounces of weed, but he picked cotton in Texas," James explained, "100 pounds of cotton a day to purchase his freedom for four years. When I heard this, the anger in me was almost uncontrollable that my brother was a slave in the early 1990s." (Fox 31)
  4. The median price for housing in Denver's metropolitan area is dropping. In Lakewood, the median price for a house is $600,000. This is significantly less than in other metropolitan areas on both coasts. (Fox 31)
  5. After assault allegations, an officer in the Sheridan Police Department has been acquitted and reinstated. The allegations, which are from September 2021, allege that Officer Shawn Ralph put a shoplifting woman in a chokehold. An internal investigation is continuing through Ralph's reinstatement.
