Winter Storm Warning In CO: 'Slow And Dangerous' Travel Expected

The National Weather Service Boulder office has issued a winter storm warning for some Colorado regions.

DENVER, CO — The National Weather Service has issued alerts for Denver's metro area, Boulder and other Colorado cities. A winter storm warning remains in effect until noon on Thursday for Boulder and west metro Denver.

Between 5 and 10 inches of snow is possible in some areas, and the foothills may get up to 15 inches, weather officials said.

The weather agency warned commuters to be prepared if they need to hit the roads Thursday morning.

"Snow covered roads will make travel hazardous," the alert read. "Be prepared for slow and dangerous travel and monitor road conditions."

A separate winter weather advisory will also remain in effect in Denver until noon on Thursday.

Roads in the foothills are expected to become snowpacked and icy by Thursday morning, particularly in areas south and west of Denver, officials said.

"Allow extra time to reach your destination," the alert read.
