Avon Cooling Centers Now Open Until Friday: UPDATE
A late-summer warm spell after Labor Day has prompted the town to go into warm-weather protocols, which has been extended by a day.
AVON, CT — Following an August of September-like weather, September's weather is, well, looking more August-like.
And, as a result, Avon officials Tuesday announced that cooling centers are being open for folks who could use a place to chill as Mother Nature tells us that summer isn't, technically, over yet.
Through Friday, Sept. 8, the town is designating the Avon Free Public Library and the Avon Senior Center as cooling centers, which will be available for residents to seek relief from the heat.
