Avon Activates Heat Protocols, Opens Cooling Centers

Extreme heat and humidity this week are prompting towns/cities to open cooling centers and abide by state hot weather protocols.

AVON, CT — With extreme hot weather in the forecast for the first half of this week, the Town of Avon is designating the Avon Senior Center and the Avon Free Public Library as cooling centers.

Those centers will be available for any resident seeking relief from the extreme heat and humidity beginning Monday, July 28, through Wednesday, July 30.

The Avon Senior Center is located at 635 West Avon Road, and staff can be reached at 860-675-4355 with questions.

Their cooling center will be available Monday, July 28, through Wednesday, July 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Their cooling center will be available Monday, July 28, through Wednesday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
