Avon Activates Local Cooling Center

High heat and humidity have prompted the Town of Avon this week to activate a cooling center for folks seeking relief.

AVON, CT — With extreme hot weather in the forecast for most of this week, the town is designating the Avon Free Public Library as a cooling center.

The library will be available for any resident seeking relief from the extreme heat and humidity beginning Tuesday, July 15.

The Avon Free Public Library is located at 281 Country Club Road, and staff can be reached at (860) 673-9712 with questions.

The cooling center there will be available Tuesday, July 15, through Thursday, July 17, from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Friday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Avon Senior Center is not available as a cooling center this week due to a planned HVAC project.
