Avon: Cooling Centers Open For Local Residents
Due to forecasted extreme temperatures, the town is designating the Avon Free Public Library and the Avon Senior Center as cooling stations.
AVON, CT — Due to the forecasted warm temperatures over the coming days, the town is designating the Avon Free Public Library and the Avon Senior Center as cooling centers which will be available for residents to seek relief from the heat.
The Avon Free Public Library is located at 281 Country Club Road and staff can be reached at (860) 673-9712 with any questions.
The cooling center there will be available on Thursday, June 30, until 8:30 p.m., Friday, July 1, from 10 a.m. to 5: p.m. and Saturday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Avon Senior Center is located at 635 West Avon Road and staff can be reached at (860) 675-4355 with any questions.
That cooling center will be available on both Thursday, June 30, and Friday, July 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Protective face coverings are recommended, but not required, when entering town buildings at this time.
