Avon Firefighters Rush To Massive Torrington Fire: AVFD
One of the Avon Volunteer Fire Department's units was among the many mutual aid responders to Sunday's factory fire there.

AVON, CT — Local firefighters were dispatched Sunday to a gigantic mill fire in Torrington, one of several out-of-town fire departments called for mutual aid.
According to WFSB Channel 3, the fire was reported at 12:45 a.m. Sunday at the former Stone Container Co. in Torrington.
Images taken of the fire showed the massive factory building being fully engulfed.

Avon firefighters were called to the scene at about 2 a.m., with AVFD units dispatched as part of Task Force 54 to High Street in Torrington for the three-alarm inferno.
The AVFD's Rescue 8 truck responded with a crew of six to provide support and returned home safely around 7 a.m., the AVFD reported.
