Avon: Call Us If You're Stuck In The Cold
Anyone stuck in the cold in Avon Friday through Monday can call the town and they can help.
AVON, CT — Severe cold is expected to roll in after the nasty rain/wind storm that starts Thursday and will continue to Friday.
And that means power outages and, possibly, people needing a warm place to stay.
As a result, the Town of Avon Thursday afternoon announced that from Friday, Dec. 23, to Monday, Dec. 26, people can call the town if they need help.

Wind chills could approach 0 degrees, creating safety problems for those exposed.
If residents are in need of protection from the severe cold during the above period of time, they can call Non-Emergency Dispatch at 860-409-4200 and the town will make arrangements to provide access to a warming facility.
