Avon PD Taking Back Unwanted Drugs This Weekend

The department is participating in National Prescription Drug Takeback Day.

AVON, CT — Local police are providing folks with a safe and proper means to dispose of unwanted and unnecessary prescription drugs.

The Avon Police Department, 60 W. Main St., Avon, is participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 25, co-hosted with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.

The APD and the DEA will be outside in the visitor parking lot (adjacent to Route 44) located at 60 W. Main St.

The lot is accessible by turning onto Ensign Drive off Route 44 (West Main Street) and then taking a left onto Climax Heights Road.

Officials said early voting will be taking place at Avon Town Hall on this day, so "please proceed with caution while driving around the town hall campus," wrote the APD.

Folks are asked to give back any unneeded medication so it can be safely and properly disposed of.
